The Tampa Visit

On Monday, November 18, 1963, just 4 days prior to his
assassination,
President Kennedy visited the city of Tampa, Florida where he
made several speaking engagements and rode in a motorcade.

The Tampa Motorcade Route
The motorcade began at Al Lopez Field after JFK's speech
South on the field to Tampa Bay Boulevard
West on Tampa Bay Boulevard to Dale Mabry
South on Dale Mabry to Grand Central Avenue*
East on Grand Central to Franklin Street in downtown Tampa
North on Franklin Street to Cass Street
West on Cass Street to Howard Avenue
Left on Howard Avenue** (going the wrong way) for one-half block and then right or west to the southern entrance to Ft. Homer Hesterly Armory
Right into first large double gate - JFK delivered a speech
The President went from the armory to Grand Central Avenue
West to the International Inn*** at the Southwest corner of Westshore and Grand Central
After ~20 minutes, east to Dale Mabry
South to the Dale Mabry (main)entrance to MacDill AFB
* post-assassination Grand Central Avenue was re-named Kennedy Boulevard
** Howard Avenue was normally a one-way street
*** today is the Wyndham Westshore Hotel
